5 POISONOUS PLANTS:
Many plants in the world are so harmful towards other living organisms generally human beings but they don't look harmful and attract us. So let's know about 5 of the world's dangerous plants.
1. Potatoes: are safe to eat when
cooked but the stems and leaves of the plant contain a poison called SOLANINE. If potatoes turn green, they may also contain SOLANINE. So we should avoid potatoes that are green, soft, moldy, mushy, and wrinkled.
2.Ricin: is extracted from the seeds of the castor oil plant and is more poisonous than cyanide or snake venom. Even minute doses of ricin can be fatal. Ricin can be made from the waste material left over from processing castor beans. It can be in the form of powder, pellet, mist, or can be dissolved in weak acid or water.
3. Opium: is extracted from the juice of a poppy and contains morphine. Small quantities of both are used legally as pain-relieving medicines and illegally as drugs. Both can easily can cause death.
4. The death cap: is a highly poisonous mushroom. It is responsible for almost 90% of the death from eating fungi. The poison causes severe diarrhea and vomiting. It is generally found in the northern hemisphere. It grows throughout the entire temperate zone of Europe, Asia, and North Africa.
5. Deadly nightshade: is also known as belladonna. It contains a poison called atropine. Less than 10 milligrams could kill a child.
6. Nicotine: Nicotine is a yellow oily liquid found in tobacco. About 50 milligrams of nicotine would kill an adult within minutes.
7. The leaves of the purple foxglove: contain digitalis and eating just a few can be fatal. Digitalis is used in tiny doses to treat people suffering from heart disease.
8. Strychnine: Strychine comes from the Koochla tree, which grows in Myanmar and India. It is one of the deadliest poisons known.
9. Plumeria: all the parts are toxic. The milky can cause vomiting. Flowers or leaves of the plant cause itching give a burning sensation and irritate the digestive system.
10. Calotropis plants: Also known as MADAR in India and are found abandoned in an open area, farmland, and grassland. The milky latex from the leaves and stem contains poison.
